After studying environmental protection in college, Yan Huanhuan joined the environment department of a state-owned enterprise.
"After years of technological breakthroughs and research, our team now uses a new type of chemicals in wastewater treatment, which substitutes traditional agents," Yan, 35, told CGTN. The company she is working with has established an "innovation workshop" under her name, hoping to group up young aspiring engineers like Yan to be devoted to the green cause.
"I want to have my share of contribution to the cause of China's environmental protection through my efforts," she said.
Yan said she is proud to represent grassroots-level workers as a delegate to the ongoing 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
"I think I was placed with great responsibility too," she said. "Eco-civilization requires the participation and efforts of all, and will be shared by all. It requires the participation of more people. I hope to see more young people come join me in the fight for this cause."
