HAIKOU, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- A global conference to promote low-carbon energy transition in the Asia-Pacific region kicked off Wednesday in Haikou, capital city of south China's Hainan Province.
The AESIEAP CEO conference 2022, organized by the Association of the Electricity Supply Industry of East Asia and the Western Pacific (AESIEAP) and the China Electricity Council, focuses on discussing ways to ensure a sustained power supply through a clean and low-carbon energy transition.
The two-day event will take place online and offline. Company and government representatives, international organizations, and scholars will share their opinions at the event.
China will accelerate renewable energy development, coordinate hydropower development and ecological protection, and develop nuclear power actively and safely, said Yu Bing, deputy head of the National Energy Administration.
Xin Bao'an, president of AESIEAP, said the Asia-Pacific region has a large population, fast economic growth, massive energy demand and strong complementarity. He added it is vital to deepen regional energy cooperation and build an energy community with a shared future.
